Swim Camp Catalina, October 25-28, 2018, is in its 5th year. As in past years, we will be taking the boat to Catalina, but this years camp will be held in the town of Avalon which is the only incorporated city on Santa Catalina Island. We decided to mix it up and give our campers a completely different perspective of the island while still enjoying the crystal clear waters of the Pacific. This year’s event is limited to 62 campers.
Avalon is a small resort town with a population of just under 4000 people. Most of the waterfront is dominated by gift shops, boutique hotels, award winning seafood restaurants, spirited pubs and flavorful wineries. In addition to the active nightlife, swimmers can expect high visibility with water temperature ranging anywhere from 60 to 68 degrees. Plan to explore Descanso Bay or make the swim trek to Frog Rock and back. There is also an abundance of sea life to enjoy in Lovers Cove located on the east side of the bay. Campers may also particpate in land sports such as yoga, zip-line, golf, hiking, cycling or simply taking a scooter around the city. Fees include room, jacuzzi, 3 dinners, continental breakfast, boat transportation to and from Long Beach, and insurance.
